Terms of Service

fork is a personalized book generation service. You answer ten questions about a real decision you're weighing, and fork uses artificial intelligence to write you a short, personalized novella exploring three paths through your decision.

fork is fiction. The books fork generates are creative writing, not advice, prediction, or professional counsel.

fork is not, and does not provide:

• Medical advice
• Mental health treatment
• Legal advice
• Financial advice
• Career counseling
• Therapy
• Crisis intervention

The books fork generates are intended for reflection and creative engagement. They are not substitutes for professional support. If you're facing a serious decision that affects your health, safety, finances, or legal status, please consult a qualified professional.

If you are in crisis, please contact 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US) or another appropriate emergency resource.

You must be 18 or older to use fork. By using fork, you confirm you are at least 18 years old.

fork is currently available worldwide, but our service is operated from the United States. If you use fork from outside the US, you understand that your information will be processed in the US.

When you use fork, you'll:

1. Answer ten questions about a decision you're weighing
2. Pay $19 (or use a valid promotional code for a free book)
3. Receive a personalized book, generated specifically for you
4. Be able to read your book on storyfork.ink, and download it as a PDF and ePub

Each book takes approximately five to ten minutes to generate. Your book is yours to keep, read, and re-read as long as you have access to your private link.

When you purchase a book from fork, you're paying for:

• A one-time generation of a personalized novella based on your answers
• Permanent access to read your book through your private link
• The ability to download your book as a PDF and ePub file

Your $19 covers a single book. If you want to write a second book for a different decision, or as a gift for someone else, that's a separate purchase.

Your fork book is written by artificial intelligence. Specifically, fork uses a large language model (Claude, made by Anthropic) to generate each book based on the answers you provide.

This means:

• Each book is unique and generated in real-time
• The same answers, submitted twice, would produce different books
• The AI may occasionally make mistakes, produce inconsistencies, or generate prose that doesn't quite land
• The AI is not factual research — it's a creative writing tool

We do our best to produce thoughtful, well-written books. We use quality checks during generation to catch and correct obvious issues. But fork is a creative product, and creative products are imperfect.

If you receive a book with serious quality issues (factual errors about details you provided, broken text, missing chapters), contact us and we'll work with you to make it right.

All sales are final. Because each book is generated specifically for you and delivered immediately, we don't offer refunds for completed books.

Exception: If your book fails to generate due to a technical error on our end, contact us within 48 hours of purchase and we'll either re-generate your book at no cost or refund your purchase.

If you experience a technical issue but received a complete book, that's not a refund situation — that's a customer service situation. Contact us and we'll work with you.

Your fork book is yours. You can:

• Read it, re-read it, and share it with anyone you choose
• Download it, save it, print it
• Quote from it for personal use, journaling, or non-commercial sharing

What you can't do:

• Sell your book or use it commercially
• Resell access to fork's service
• Use AI-generated content from fork to train other AI systems

When you use fork, you agree not to:

• Provide false or misleading information when answering questions
• Use fork to make decisions that could harm yourself or others
• Use fork in ways that violate any applicable law
• Attempt to reverse-engineer fork, its prompts, or its underlying systems
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' books or data
• Use automated tools to abuse the service

If you violate these Terms, we may terminate your access to fork without notice.

If your answers to fork's questions indicate you may be in acute crisis — including statements suggesting suicidal ideation, active self-harm, abuse, or imminent harm to yourself or others — fork's system will route you to a page with relevant crisis resources before book generation begins.

This is intentional. fork is fiction, and fiction is not the right tool when someone is in acute crisis. We would rather connect you to a qualified resource than generate a book in a moment that calls for real human support.

You can choose to override this and continue with your book if you wish. But we'd encourage you to reach out for support first, and to consider whether fork is the right tool for what you're facing right now.

The crisis detection feature uses AI analysis and is not perfect. It may occasionally flag people who are not in crisis, or miss people who are. It is not a substitute for the judgment of a trained professional. If you are in distress, please reach out to a qualified resource regardless of what fork tells you.

If you are in crisis, please contact 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US) or another appropriate emergency resource.

We commit to:

• Generating your book using the information you provide, in good faith
• Not reading your answers or your book unless you specifically share them with us for support
• Not sharing your answers or your book with anyone else
• Not using your answers to train AI models
• Protecting your information per our Privacy Policy

We don't promise:

• That your book will be perfect, useful, or change your decision
• That fork will be available 100% of the time (technical issues happen)
• That the AI will never produce inconsistencies or imperfect prose
• That your book will produce any specific outcome in your life

fork is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, usefulness, or outcomes of any book generated.

You agree that you are responsible for your own decisions. fork is a creative tool, not a decision-maker. Any choice you make after reading your fork book is your choice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Deep Work Labs and fork are not liable for any damages — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising from your use of fork. This includes any decisions you make based on your fork book, any emotional reactions to the content, or any outcomes in your life that follow.

If a court finds we are liable for something, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the book in question — typically $19.

The fork name, brand, design, prompts, and underlying systems are owned by Deep Work Labs. You can't copy or reuse these without permission.

Your book — the text we generate for you — is yours for personal use, as described in Section 7.

We may update fork over time — adding features, fixing bugs, changing the experience. We may also update these Terms.

If we make material changes to these Terms, we'll notify you (typically by email if you've subscribed, or by an update notice on storyfork.ink). Continued use of fork after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

You can stop using fork at any time. If you want your data deleted, contact us.

We can suspend or terminate your access to fork if you violate these Terms or use the service in a way that harms us or other users.

If fork ever shuts down entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to download your books before access ends.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
